Why am I, an organometallic chemist, reading a neuroscience review?
For the sake of spider facts, that's what.
Here's a bit of a primer for the spidery fun facts coming next for Speter: spider biochemistry. Turns out it's way more interesting than just copper based blue blood. There's a bunch of neurotransmitters at play. And guess what!!! They play a vital role in humans too!!!
I am nerding out right now. I think Oscorp was on the right track with spider hybrids. A few of these (like the octopamine mentioned in the pic) actually help with athletic performance, to the point they are banned! There are real athletes out there taking spider chemical supplements (okay they are also found in plants and can be synthesized)! Not to mention we naturally make some of them?! Octopamine is also made in the human body, just not at the same level as in spiders?! Oh and let's not forget that the clinical effects are pretty much on par with what I've had/what I want for Speter?!
I'm in writer's nerdvana.
I'm still gathering info, so that's all I'll say for now (also gotta leave some surprises for the chapters) (also also have to let the info simmer as i figure out how much to actually use). But basically spider and human biology is not as incompatible at the chemical level as it is in the physical level, and I will be taking full advantage of that.
