Gosh, I want to see what your Hollow Knight AU will be like when you have the time to develop it. I mean, aside from the Grimm Ghost ship, I'm very excited to see how you would develop the characters. Though I am curious if you'll make unique characters to have as Pov characters. Possibly a new troupe member or something. Perhaps a Mantis character? Nonetheless, you can tell I'm very excited to see what you do.
I think if it does become an AU it should be Grimm finding and integrating Ghost into the Troupe. How far did you make it into Hollow Knight so far anyways?
I don't know if I will make an AU, I love the game so far but it's not COTL levels of love, y'know?
I'm stuck between the beetles fight and the second round of Hornet, so far I prefer fighting against her, I'm making actual progress with her and the moment I get the shadow cloak, THOSE BEETLES WILL RUE THE DAY THEY DECIDED TO LAY FINGER ON MY SHADOW, I'M GOING TO BEAT THEIR ASSES SO HARD EVEN THE RADIANCE WILL FEEL IT, SHE'LL FEAR ME BEFORE I'M EVEN HALFWAY DONE WITH THE GAME
I don't know why, but I usually find most goat/lamb beards made of wool to be more feminine. For example:
@cult-of-the-iron-crown's Fe being one of them. I always poke fun at Fe being a femboy, but he looks so feminine except for in Ritsukan's (Irl Fe's BF/Irl Ro) exaggerated style of Fe which even then still is hot.
Then there's your style which makes me fall in love with Agatha. It might just be her grooming habits, but that beard in combination with her hair makes her look extremely feminine, slay girl.
Finally, @llobulynxthecerval's Gilgamesh. Despite being "Kratos' Fursona" by their Leshy (which I honestly think would be a cow if you take into account one of Kratos' actual outfits), they somehow still have a hint of femininity due to the gentleness their beard gives off.
I never thought I'd be saying this, but I love the wool beards.
Jokes on you, Agatha doesn't groom herself, she wakes up and calls it a day with her hair
That being said, let me take out my art/design degree for this ask:
I'm sure that the reason you find those two feminine has to do with the fact that, even though they are designed to be clearly AMAB, they still keep certain feminine aspects (long hair, long eyelashes, earrings, and from a character design view, the round features are more associated with women), almost every Lamb design does, but these are the only ones with beard I've seen.
The difference with the goats is that the Goat canonically has a beard, and if you notice, most goats are male, 90% of goats are he/they, the 10% of them who are female usually don't have a beard, and if they do is usually a small one or the same color as their face. Facial hair is something considered inherently male, so goats tend to have sharper features (from a character design view, sharp features are more associated with men)
Now, personality-wise, both characters' personality is up to the player, but what's shown in comic/animations, is that the Lamb is kinder than the Goat, the Goat is a lot more chaotic and darker than the Lamb, so drawing them with rounder and sharper features makes sense to showcase these differences, and internally people assign genders to features, that's why femboys and tomboys are a thing.
For example, my Lamb's features are round and my Goat's are sharp, from eyes, nose, hair, hands, and I even added a crooked tooth to Agatha to make her teeth feel shaper than Aubrey's, and it would make people think that Aubrey is AFAB and Agatha is AMAB, when that is not the case in reality, it's the surprise aspect of a design.
Both Fe and Mesh have masculine and feminine features, which is the reason they don't feel SO masculine despite the obvious feats.
