Some Nero headcanons

Nero is homeschooled. Ignis teaches Nero both reading and braille because it’s easier for their lessons.

A: “How can I tell you’re not giving him any smutty novels to read?”

I: “I would never do such a thing!”

A: “You’re right, that’s what I would do.”

N: “Mom, what’s snutty?”

I:”…now, that’s your problem.”

He calls Ignis Papa.

He loves to sit on Gladio’s shoulders. Gladio totally dotes on the boy and tells Ignis to “make another”.

When the light is restored Nero eventually attends public school. He’s far ahead of his peers though which makes it hard for him.

When he’s 16 Nero becomes more and more bored with school. However, he’s interested in coding and develops a prototype for a sequel to King’s Knight, “A Knight’s Tale”. It’s a story about his hero.

He gets help from his technophiliac friend Hope. She’s all smiles, hair like sunshine, bright green eyes and the cutest freckles. He’s madly in love with her.

His first girlfriend is a girl who looks a lot like Aranea though. After meeting her Aranea spends the night moogling “oedipus complex” and getting drunk.

He ends up with Hope (Aranea spends the night getting drunk for different reasons).

Wow ok, buckle up!! (I don’t wanna tell everything because who knows, I might write that fic??) His name is Nero (don’t judge ok, finding good-sounding Latin names is hard alright), he’s like a perfect copy of his dad but only physically (minus the glasses and with less perfect hair), his personality is a lot like Aranea’s. Of course he’s talented and very intelligent and all but when he grows into a teen he becomes very lazy and much like his uncle Noctis, he doesn’t like to do shit and it’s even worse when he’s being told to do anything. He has a foul mouth and talks back a lot but he regrets it the second after because getting into an argument with his parents is too much hassle for him. Despite her usual self Aranea babies him a lot (like, a lot, mostly because he is the spitting image of Ignis and that’s her weak spot). She’s his favorite parent, #1 mama’s boy right there, spends most of his adult life working through his oedipal complex, ok no scratch that lmao. But ye, that’s him alright, everything else is spoiler alert. I’m so happy you asked about him tho aaaaah

Nero is the cutest and I'm so sorry he had to deal with a prodigy upbringing;; I love him I hope he'll be okay! I could listen to an entire psychoanalysis of him idgaf give me a 20 page essay for all I care I wanna know everything he's so good ♥

Oh my gosh, I'm so happy someone cares about my little Nero, aaah!!! Don't worry, he will turn out alright, Aranea is a lioness and makes sure her cub becomes strong. ❤ However, I can't share any more about his backstory or I will give away the whole plot 😅

Nero sounds like an absolute sweetheart I love him omg;;; I wanna know more about him and especially his teenage years but you said spoiler alert so that's okay too.... Can I still ask how Ignis handles Nero's teenage years? Or is that too spoiler-y?

He is, right? I love him so much already! I could write a lot more about him but I guess it would turn into a full psychoanalysis. His biggest problem is that he was praised and pressured a lot when he was little (mostly by his father of course), he was always under the impression that he's a prodigy and everything came rather easy to him. Aranea was mostly responsible for his physical education and he was quite good at that too. But you know the thing with millennials is that they grow older and find out that everything takes more and more effort and the praise subsides because you just blend in with all the other talented teenagers and young adults and that's what happens to Nero. Of course Ignis learned a thing or two from raising Noctis and he tries to take off a little pressure from his son but he can't get out of his skin, he's still Ignis and he still wants his son to be the best he can be, so it's hard for both of them.Wow ok, analysis over, I could write so much more but hnnnng spoilers!!
