It starts with two shoulders. 

They think nothing of it at the time. It’s nothing more than the bumping of shoulders, a strange and alien connection in a sea of limbs and laughter that ends in two distant “sorry!”s and two perfect strangers building distance between them with “should have beens”. 

It continues with a gasp -- a burning heart beat in the stillness of night, yanking from midnight dreams to the blueness of rooms and the moon in the window. Two souls stare unseeing into the night, forlorn and wistful as they imagine the other. They only turn when their owners beckon them back home, back into the cradle of their arms and finally, the cage they share with shivering hearts. 

It ends with a could have been, the conclusion of an excruciating tragedy between two people who never met and the lovesick souls who fell in love at a single touch, destined to never see each other again.
