He’s not exactly happy about this job. Cain is a lot of things but a thief isn’t one of them or wasn’t one of them. That’s a more apt description now. Since he doesn’t have some fireworks show of a power to use on the docks this is the scut work he’s left with.
It helps a little that every store on the looting circuit Damien mapped out for him is one owned by mutant haters. The first one he hits up has a Vote Human sticker on the window. Cain fixes that problem by hurling a rock through the window, taking it down in a mess of shattered glass. The store alarm is lost in the bleating of a dozen cars and other stores on the block and the distant shrill of ambulances and police cars as they rush towards the docks.
It’s a jewelry store so Cain’s got to go about breaking even more glass and setting off a handful of sub alarms as he fills up his bag with necklaces and earrings and bracelets, unwary of the shattered glass that knicks his hands.
He’s just about cleared the place out when he notices he’s not alone.
“Figures Benji’s lot would also wanna hit this,” he growls at the woman. He recognizes her from the party, mean, pretty, cruel enough to carry a man to his certain death. “Too bad you showed up late.”
