Somehow, he had ended up in a cage. It wouldn’t be the first time that he was in a cage like that. After all, everyone at some point in their life probably had been in a cage. Or had a sibling who locked them in a dog kennel for fun, or wanted to pretend to be a wolf in the petting zoo.  You know, just those silly things that kids would do when they were kids.

Cecil was not a child in any sense of the world, which meant he was rather annoyed at being in a cage. It wasn’t even like there was anyone around either, he had just woken up in the cage. Why a cage? Why the sense that something had happened and he had missed something important? Why all these questions now when he should have been trying to figure out a way out of the cage. “Say you wouldn’t happen to have your government issued lock picking kit that all scouts receive when they join do you?”

“Oh, you know, the usual.” There was that cool surprising calm tone in Cecil’s voice, despite looking like he had just walked out of fight with some unknown creature.  Looking like he had lost said hypothetical fight to be precise. Certainly, Cecil had had better days in the past, but well. Not all of the days could be filled with the normal waves of terror that were common in Night Vale.“Station management was not entirely thrilled with my previous broadcast concerning the dog park, and the secret police.” A wave of his hand as if dismissing the idea that he had done something wrong in what he had said.  After all, it was his job to report the news wasn’t it? The news had involved the dog park and the secret police, there had been no other choice for him really.  It was his job as a reporter. “But Jackie, how are you? You are outside of your shop. Something caught your eye in town?”

So, this is my first attempt at derma rolling. I obviously either put too much pressure or turned in a weird way because I don’t think you’re actually supposed to see full on lacerations.
