As I walked down that hallway You looked at me and a bright smile crossed your face…but that smile was not for me and it never was

So today I stayed late like I always do, and friend asked me if I mind going to Cali, if I'll ever miss anything here in NY. But before I could answer, he said, "Eh just kidding, you won't really miss much of this crap anyways. Have fun in Cali, start a new life and stop caring about us now so you get a head start on getting rid of these connections and feeling you have for us and anyone else you have." 

At first I wanted to smack him, telling him that most of these people, these connections, are my family, my best friends. But then I started to realize that maybe he was saying the truth. Maybe I do need to forget and start to succumb to my new life head of me in Cali. But then again, I don't want to get rid of my feelings for others, my memories with others.

Then there's the ... "thing" I have to deal with that involves easily getting rid of feelings and memories, which is good and bad.

All I learned is that people expect me to forget them.. I find that sad. I mean I was going to try my best, to stay tied to those back here. But now I'm confused. Do I forget them now.. Do I let my mind do it's thing and just get rid of every memory I thought was something to be cherished? I don't know.

Maybe it's for the best that I forget, and start to accept moving to Cali for the next 6 years of my life.. possibly the rest of my life. We'll see.
