AIOFTS a DDVAU Crossover, Chapter 3 Part 1: Feathers of the Fallen Birds.
Silver liked having a normal life, it helped them stay calm, stay stable. Wake up, say hi to Spore, meet the traffic, go to work, tease Grian, go home.
It was simple, blissful even.
Safe.
She knew how dangerous it would be living in this city. All the fights and destruction, every warning sign was there. And well…
Silver was stupid to think they could live peacefully
Now in a logical persons mind driving late at night in a city filled with villains isn’t a good thing. But Silver never had any issues, and it was peaceful to her!
They stayed close to her apartment never speeded and only stuck to routes that she knew well. That’s night thought something was different. Some road had been locked off from rubble being removed due to a fight. And Silver had to take a more unfamiliar route. It didn’t bother them to much though, humming and tapping along to Ariana Griande’s newest song.
It was peaceful, heck, the only time of peace they ever got was doing this.
It only took three seconds. Three seconds of glancing away to see what song was playing. Three seconds of the last little peace Silver had left. And then…
The sound of a horn blasted in her ear, bright light flashed incredibly close. To close. Silver’s eyes widened as she slammed hard on the breaks the other car screech so close to her, they were sure it hit her car. But right as Silver knew they would get hit there was only a loud thump. no screech of tire against ground, no splintering of glass, no whir of alarms or whoosh of air bags. Just a thump
It felt big but it wasn’t nearly big enough for a car. In fact it kinda sounded like…like…
Silver pressed her hand hard against their mouth the other hand slowly going against their neck desperately looking for a pulse.
“Breathe Silver, I’m sure it’s not that, I’m sure it’s not a person you just hit.” She whispered it was fine. Their hands could function just fine. To prove this to themself Silver very carefully unbuckled herself and unlocked their car. Slowly getting out on shaky legs to see the damage
Surprisingly their car wasn’t that damaged, only a bit scraped and a large human dent on the side of her car.
Wait.
Oh no.
There was a person crumpled along the ground right next to her car. And not just any person. It was an avian, a vigilante,
Nox.
Silver recognized him from the massive wings and black and white color scheme. He was newer to the whole vigilante business they knew. Only appearing very rarely on video but Silver still managed to get some pictures.
They liked him and thought he was okay.
And now he’s slumped against her car.
Looking down, there thankfully wasn’t any blood. (Silver was forever grateful Nox wore armor unlike another feathered avian she had gaped at.) There was a shash strapped around his chest that looked to have been holding some coloured bottles that were now smashed, the contents seaping over the car and dripping silently onto the floor. A few of the bottles were even loosely scattered about along with other various objects that silver paid no attention to. But he was still unconscious, just to be sure she poked his face a few times.
No movement.
“Okay, okay Silver you have an unconscious vigilante leaning against your car. Think logically now, what should you do?” Silver asked themself slowly running a hand across her face before they finally decided. “Right, so sorry about all of this Nox.”
Carefully Silver pushed him off her car, watching him slump against the pavement with a wince. Half of her brain really just wanted to leave him there and never look back. Ignore this whole situation and pretend like none of this ever happened. Surely Nox would forget everything about this, forget something that Silver didn’t know the full story of.
Carefully she opened the door to their car, and before she could regret it Silver grabbed Nox’s shoulders and heaved him into her car.
“This is kidnapping, this is kidnapping, this is so kidnapping.” They hiss quietly to themself quickly closing the door behind him. Running back to the drivers seat and immediately starting the car once more. Her heart was beating so fast Silver thought they were going to pass out. She slammed down hard on the gas and desperately tried to keep a steady hand on the wheel.
“Okay Silver now he’s in your car and you’re kidnapping him! Great! You are kidnapped a trained vigilante! Such a good idea Silver!” They muttered quietly to themself, every little bump she shot her head back to make sure the avian didn’t awaken. “Where are we even going?! Yeah that’s right Silver, you don’t have anywhere safe! You can’t go to your apartment, so where on earth could you hide him?”
Silver nodded slowly to her own words, yes that’s right, they didn’t have anywhere safe, or secluded, or empty..or…
Her storage unit.
“No. No no no! I am not-“ They looked back at Nox, he was unprotected and the night was dangerous, especially to an avian vigilante. “Oh sell my soul and make me rich, FINE!” Silver gritted her teeth and drove faster, their storage unit was far out from the main city.
Every second that passed by made Silver more and more anxious, she didn’t know how hard Nox was knocked out. As they stared at his face the plan was set. Drive to the storage unit. Get him in the storage unit without him waking up. Hopefully Nox wouldn’t kill her, and send him off. Then the two of them could hopefully forget this even happened and leave Silver alone.
Simple. Easy. Can’t go wrong.
“Yeah just like my life, this is simple!” Silver muttered, trying to reassure herself.
And like the universe liked to do with them, the universe laughed.

It started with a text years ago, something simple. Happy Thanksgiving. As much as Blaine would like to say he doesn’t remember the details, he could write paragraphs about everything he remembers from that first Thanksgiving back in Ohio after the breakup.
And so it continued, the holiday hookups, the guilt-ridden tradition of spending several nights in a row over Thanksgiving in Sebastian’s bed. It existed in a vacuum, one weekend of the year that they could say and do anything they wanted while wrapped up in each other’s naked embrace somewhere in Ohio. They could ignore it for the other 360 days of the year, the days when their lives were fundamentally incompatible, but this always stayed the same.

Because there was a hand with his string attached to it, and they both knew how it was destined to end.
“Can I test you on that?” George asked. “You not kicking me out?”
With that one question, Dream knew he could never escape fate for all he’d ever tried. Because this, right here, right now, was fate, and he had beautiful brown eyes and a smile like the sun.
“Always,” Dream said, the word catching in his throat.

Born with a gray string promising a doomed love, Dream visits George in London pre-visa, a little too angry at fate and infatuated with his best friend.
