We got new chickens! The first one is a Swedish Flower Hen. The second one is a Speckled Sussex. The third one is an Ameraucana. We got the second and third ones from the same place. We are still deciding on names. They’re in the chicken cottage today but we’ve put up the fence divider so they can have more space but still be separated for a little while.
We adopted new mixed breed babbers!
Beautiful ladies
The new chickens (or two of them) who are looking better but don’t like me much. The Dominiques do come to me for treats. They’re super enjoying the free range life and have finally figured out they should go to sleep in the coop with everyone else at night. Oprah (the dust mop Orpington) is molting AND has rooster feather damage AND had lice (everyone at my place had lice too, so not a huge deal). The Dominiques are also laying, and after a week their egg color is drastically different. One of the Dominiques has crooked toes and she’s very under weight, but they’tr looking better. You can’t see Oprah’s new feathers yet, but she’s got lots of new growth happening. We’re trying out Nutrena’s Feather Fixer food on these guys, and it seems to be doing great things for them.
We have names for them! The Swedish Flower Hen is Petunia. The Speckled Sussex is Elsie. The Ameraucana is Ava (who I finally got some picture of).
We got two new chickens! They're about 2 months old. The gray one is a Cream Legbar, Annabelle. The brown one is a Partridge Welsummer, Penelope. They have their own coop for now so we can make sure they're healthy and so they can grow a little bit before we integrate them with the others.
We made them come out of the chicken cottage so now they’re exploring around. The Swedish Flower Hen and Annabelle keep challenging each other. Penelope seems kind of afraid of them. The Speckled Sussex peeps like a chick like Penelope did when we first got her.
