The Sons of Korhal have landed on Tarsonis and have activated the Psi Emitters to lure the Zerg into destroying the Confederate capital. However, the Protoss have been fighting against the Zerg infestation of the Koprulu sector and that includes stopping the Zerg invasion of Tarsonis.

For the Sons of Korhal's plan to succeed, we have to stop the Protoss from eradicating the Zerg before they can play their part in Arcturus' scheme. He's dispatched Sarah Kerrigan to the surface to Tarsonis to defend the Zerg against the Protoss. The only problem is that we're in between two armies and the Zerg don't know that we're on their side.

It's the most important mission of the Terran campaign and one of the most important in all of StarCraft lore.
