'Tap to Pay': Apple announces contactless payments via new iPhones

Apple has announced to introduce 'Tap to Pay' on newer iPhones that will help millions of merchants to use their devices to seamlessly and securely accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets with no additional hardware or payment terminal needed.

Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available for payment platforms and app developers to integrate into their iOS apps and offer as a payment option to their business customers in the US first, Apple said in a statement late on Tuesday.

Stripe will be the first payment platform to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone to their business customers, including the Shopify Point of Sale app this spring and additional payment platforms and apps will follow later this year.

"Tap to Pay on iPhone will provide businesses with a secure, private, and easy way to accept contactless payments and unlock new checkout experiences using the power, security, and convenience of iPhone," said Jennifer Bailey, Apple's vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet.

Apple releases iOS 14.2.1 to fix bugs on iPhone 12 devices

Apple has released iOS 14.2.1, addressing a number of bugs, fixing a key display problem some iPhone 12 mini owners had reported.

The iOS 14.2.1 update can be downloaded for free and is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app.

To access the new software, go to Settings, then General and Software Update.

In addition to the touch issues, Apple has also fixed problems with MMS messages and some audio problems.

iOS 14.2.1 also resolves commonly-reported problems with Made for iPhone hearing devices paired with the iPhone 12.

Newly-launched Apple iPhones, Watch Series 4 now on sale globally

Apple has announced that its newly-launched iPhone XR, XS, XS Max and 'Watch Series 4' are going on sale globally from Friday.

The new iPhones and Apple Watch Series 4 will be available in India starting September 28.

In India, one would have to shell out Rs 12,075 a month, as zero-cost EMI, for a period of one year to own the 512GB variant of iPhone XS Max -- the most expensive iPhone released this month -- that would cost Rs 1,44,900.

The iPhone XS with 512GB storage model would be priced Rs 134,900 and the cheapest of the lot, iPhone XR (64GB)would hit the shelves at a starting price of Rs 76,900 in India.
