Lol .. - What I love about memes, is the connection to culture, and how one can illustrate the connections between background knowledge (which can be influenced by culture), and what the meme is trying to communicate, similar to the way culture and background knowledge can impact how a reader connects with or understands the reading and the literature used in many classrooms! - Your background knowledge (not just the words in the text) can absolutely help you understand the content and context (and therefore draw deeper meaning), and that’s why we have to be sure to not only have a one-sided (colonial-ish curriculum) and also we have to be careful about how much weight we place on some of our reading assessments and assessments in other areas!! - Now, suppose this was on a standardized test?
