Mamak Takapuna’s new winter menu is brimming with Malaysian favourites: Loh Pak Ko, Assam Chicken Rice, Beef Wat Tan Hor, Sambal Squid, Mee Siam Goreng, KL Hokkien Mee and Sarawak Tomato Kway Teow. Uncle’s eyes lit up when he saw the Loh Pak Ko - home steamed radish cake with dark soya sauce, beansprout, chai poh (preserved radish) and egg. We reminisce about Loh Pak Ko being chopped on the hot plate, chai poh added and kecap drizzled over the radish cake before an egg is broken over the mix. Sedapnya! New on the dessert menu is Bubur Cha Cha, a warm dessert of sago, sweet potato, yam and pandan flavoured coconut milk.
