MF Day #81: Screeno

And Lasty we have Screeno, a charming looking mixel with a TV box for a head, and a tie to make himself look presentable when making news reports. I feel like had something with him and the other Newzers that the NNGA special didn’t focus on that much. If it were focused on them trying to bring the colorful life back to Mixopolis, rather than some minor background characters that we don’t even know about(or care about), I think the special would’ve turned out better. But hey what can you do.

And that officially wraps up the franchise as a whole. The last yearly set of Mixels was admittedly the weakest of the three. I certainly admire the experimentation it had this time around where they came up with plenty of creative and fun concepts for mixels. It’s just that many of them didn’t have the same whacky and interesting personalities that the first two volumes did so well at. And the fact that they didn’t get to have that much screentime in the show really doesn’t help them to leave the biggest impact on me.

But for all its faults, I still consider this to be a really good batch. And even though the LEGO series has unfortunately discontinued, I am at least glad that the franchise never oversaturated itself and overstayed its welcome.

And there we go, with the Newzers, the redos of my Mixel humanizations are finished! It was a fun thing to go back and redo all of these drawings, just to see how much my art has changed!

MF Day #78: Camsta

I’m really liking these vehicle mixels, and they seem to find some fun and clever ways of incorporating them into fitting tribe themes. In this case we have Camsta, a living helicopter with a literal camera for an upper head. It’s both a cool combination of different objects and it fits in well with the news reporting theme.

I like to imagine Camsta as being a very curious mixel who is very interested in mixels history. Flying around from place to place, eager to gain knowledge about what goes on in the mixel land, and possibly discover something new and capture it in his memory.

MF Day #75: Myke

For a city that’s as big and vibrant as Mixopolis, there’s probably a ton of mixed-up stuff going on with the abondance of tribes and the limitless combinations they create. So it’s nice that they have a group of news reporting mixels to help chronicle these events.

While the Newzers isn’t the most imaginative concept for a mixel tribe, I still really like this inclusion nonetheless. Because I could see them as representing the people who are passionate about inciting history, creating interesting discussions, and spreading awareness for meaningful things, even if it’s something as simple as mixing.

Myke is probably my favorite of the group, being a cool combination of a microphone guy and a tripod. And I just love how his headphones are just a major part of his body. Myke’s overall look is a great representation of one of the most crucial aspects of filming/documenting: editing! Gotta give the guy respect for that.

And I'm finally done with this series! A Mixel OC of mine per series, capping off with Series 9! It was fun to do this series, and S9 was fun to work with in the end, though my Nindja choice was a flip-flop between two for a bit.

Yep, another new Mixel OC, this time a Newzer. XD Internview is merely the intern for Mix TV's crew. She normally spends her time fetching coffee, ordering things for the company, and shadowing Screeno. However, this only lets her use her ability to the tiniest potential. What looks like a cute hairbow is actually a pair of super-strong satellite dishes, which transports feed, records data, and makes her a useful part of the team. Unfortunately, she's a bit too flustered by her standard workforce to even WANT to put this power into full use.
