have you even encountered any partners that threw a tantrum at you?

i mentioned earlier that no one's thrown a TANTRUM but ... WAAAY BACK WHEN, not any time recently or with ppl i'm mutuals with now, but a mutual of mine once accused / got mad at another mutual of mine for ' stealing me ' (literally the phrase used), my attention, and the potential for a ship which i thought was absolutely so ... k sdfkm. it wasn't an all-out brawl or extended / large drama but it was really awkward when i figured out bc i wasn't even involved in the conversation. and ... do i need to explain how strange / stuck / bad that made me feel ?? no right ??

i feel like we've all had to endure some version of this at some point bc it's apparently way too common from when i've spoken about it ... but for the most part things have seem to have died down in terms of ppl getting rly possessive unless i'm wrong idk but everyone seems so nice now !!

adella has lots of self-soothing rituals, some very elaborate and grand, like the fact that she soaks her hair in perfumed water for a very long time (hrs if she can help it) per day -- some very small and hardly worth noticing, like how she's constantly scratching the insides of her wrists... or there are other habits that aren't self-soothing but such a natural part of her that feels like programming at that point, things like canting her head far to the left (always left) when she's listening to you talk as if she's rly rapt with attention and devotion and yet mocking you (as if she's listening to a kid) at the same time...

i think a habit that would unravel her if taken away is probably the ritual brushing of her hair, and singing to it while she does... like i mentioned lots of times before, their life is connected to the threads of her hair so it's vitual that she keep doing that. that OR... like how some people sun bathe (she is VERY nocturnal, preferring the dark outside because it's similar to how she grew up beneath the deep dark oceans) she bathes beneath the moonlight every night if she can, drinks it up into her skin (some legends say that this the perisi way of truly resting and being able to dream). if she goes days or weeks without it i think she'd get pretty erratic tbh.

any advice on improving tumblr rp experience?

soo many ways to think about this tbh. i think a lot of us are nostalgic for the times when threads were super long and not easily dropped, it was somehow this perfect balance between casual / not taking oneself too seriously while also being super invested AND taking it seriously, that plotting came more instinctively as a mutual creative exchange, that everyone put time and effort into reading other ppl's threads and (importantly !!) character info. and all that ... and the lack of this has everything to do with the fact that we're all grown up now, our problems and priorities and where we need to place our time is a lot different compared to when we were all, like, 16-22. myself included. that's just a side effect of growing up we have to take. but if we want more richer rp experiences, what can we do in consideration of the fact that that is our reality?

i guess what advice i can give -- not that i'm a shining example of following it, but i know it's something anyone can benefit from adopting more and more and better and better, myself included -- is to really slow down and take time and be deliberate about replies. if you want a truly meaty dynamics or plots or relationships, it will take time and effort. it will take writing, deliberately and consistently. and, it will take a scary amount of trust in the other person to do the same, and be invested and also want to write long threads with you (however long it takes to get to the reply). and i think that scariness and fear of trusting people when it's so easy to ghost without communication nowadays is the worst and most understandable part, and why a lot of us hesitate to get excited in every notification and invested to see what happens next and feel like you're truly creating something fun. it's not easy to put effort in and get invested and put your heart out like that without any proof that the story or your friendship ooc will really build over time. personally takes ME a while to trust also and feel like the person will be a long-term rp partner !!

i know it sucks to make replies / answer asks for ppl you're just starting to get to know them and it goes nowhere and you feel like the excitement and time it took to reply wasn't worth it. but if we all do a little bit better at being more deliberate and effort...full? lol and communicative abt each other's needs and time and emotions, the community overall will be easier to trust. it's easy to ignore things and be super quiet. it's harder to communicate. but which one is the better thing to do in the end, and more respectful of the fact that we're all human beings trying to have fun and do our best? :D

she falls in an exceedingly cartoonish manner. she'd never been on the ice before this, had her knees clanking together like a frightened deer the moment nayoon insisted she would be okay. the skates had felt so odd on her feet, arms held out in an attempt to support her as she entered the rink - already wobbling about.

legs fly up, a shocked yelp sputtered, eyes squeezed as her butt hits the cold, cold ground. she can already tell that was going to bruise her tailbone, narrowly avoiding cracking her skull on the ice by rolling sheepishly onto her side. ❝ ooooooww.. ❞

nayoon is so much more graceful. that was obvious, but as odette adjusts her newly crooked glasses, the sight still leaves her with a sense of shock. she moves like she was made for this, helping the other up like it wasn't the most embarrassing public wipe out in history. she appreciated that.

the extent of my ice skating knowledge is purely based on the iconic 2205 film ICE PRINCESS starring MICHELLE TACHTENBERG and ........ i, tonya sdkmf. idk what the conversation / public consensus is on the real tonya harding is but i know adella would be a very complex character and most certainly not........ the hero-type.

you know, i had a ballerina verse for her ages ago (that was my main modern verse before i swung the fairy succubus pop-star route) and it was very black swany-- and i think her insane competitiveness and very public emotional breakdowns really shine in these type of aus and i'd apply that here too. also we're transporting her main verse TERRIBLE RELATIONSHIP with her mother to here. absent father, very strict house, quiet girl from school, etc.

and bc i'm me and i gotta have supernatural elements and connection to water fairies, i'm thinking some kind of thumbelina type of thing where her greedy evil childless mother found her in a pearl beneath the ice and stole herrrr. and she spent her whole life feeling like she's out of place / belongs somewhere else. and maybe something like once she finds out that she has a very real love for ice skating and starts actually making friends and other real bonds and finding a life here she has to be called back to the waterrrrrr. :'}
