Photographer from Singapore
Nguan was born and raised in Singapore. His photographs are about big city yearning, ordinary fantasies and emotional globalisation.
Nguan has published three photo books: Shibuya (2010), How Loneliness Goes (2013) and Singapore (2017).
How Loneliness Goes was called "a masterful color portrait of quiet urban lives" by American Photo. Singapore was named as one of the ten best photo books of the year in The New York Times Magazine. "It's a pleasure to encounter a photographer whose visual identity is totally distinct", wrote The New York Times Magazine's photography critic Teju Cole. Nguan's photographs are in the permanent collection of the Singapore Art Museum.
