And Lando has been impressive though so far, because I at the time was not able to drive 100% cause I was just so scared. And that just takes so much capacity away from you being able to concentrate and drive at your best, so I had no chance of doing a pole position. It wasn't even imaginable. But Lando seems to really be very much under control so far. The pressure's not there yet, totally, but that has been very impressive to me.

Lando's bodyguard was, in Nico's opinion, unnecessarily large.

"Sorry," Nico said, holding up his press badge, even though, fuck this guy, he definitely knew who Nico was. "I'm just trying to talk to Lando."

"He already did his interviews," the bodyguard said. Nico tried to look around him and wave Lando down, but he was engaged with a gaggle of curly-haired boys who looked they'd been crying for an hour.

"Right," Nico said. He stepped in close to the bodyguard. "I'm trying to talk to him personally."

"Would you like me to pass along a message?"

Goddamn these overenthusiastic bulldogs. There hadn't been a need for any of this in Nico's day.

"Here," he said, handing the bodyguard his key card. "1024."

The bodyguard looked at the key card with open amusement, but made no move to take it. He pulled out his phone and tapped the screen. "He can do 10pm," he said.

"Sure-" Nico started to reply, but the bodyguard cut him off.

"Tomorrow," he said.

"Tomorrow?" Nico repeated. "My flight leaves tomorrow morning."

"Button moved his," the bodyguard said. "Do you want the time or not?"

Nico stared at him, narrowed his eyes, then huffed. "Yes, fine," he said. "10pm tomorrow."

🥲🥲 this + nico and lando both being so loved by their dads, both being underestimated and criticised and people believing they’re not championship material compared to their teammate.
