Simone Segouin, mostly known by her codename Nicole Minet, was only 18 as the fascists invaded France. Her first rebellion was to steal a bicycle from a german military administration and to slice the tires of all the other bikes and motorcycles so they couldn’t persue her. After that she was delivering messages between Resistance groups with a stolen bike.

She was never caught. After the war she studied medicine and became a pediatric nurse. This year she will turn 96.

1) The Pacific was the first one that I watched all the of way through because it was easily available at the time. Technically, Band of Brothers was the first one that I watched but since I didn’t finish it in my first run through (got to Carentan and then had to stop), I don’t count it as the first one. I actually found out about the entire HBOWar fandom when I followed joetoyes back when she was @/punkparatroopers

5) My favorite character from The Pacific is probably a toss up between Snafu and John Basilone. Snafu because come on, Rami plays crazy incredibly well and I love Cajun characters. I loved how he slowly starts to warm up to Sledge and try to at least sympathize with him after his dog dies and just when characters make themselves a little more vulnerable for the sake of another, it just gets to me. I don’t think I have a least favorite character unless I can count Mrs. Sledge because I dislike her with a burning passion
