Sacred Datura, also known as the Sacred Thorn Apple or Jimsonweed here on the California coast is known for its incredible evening blooms that attract night pollinators such as Hawkmoths. Datura flowers typically open at night, the action is audible. This plant is considered sacred to many, particularly the native Chumash people who use it in ceremony of astral projection. Datura is a poisonous plant and is not something to be messed with lightly.
