I get what you mean, I'm from an area where we have lots of immigrants and most people I know are immigrants who have been fucked basically. :(
my town has like, zero immigrants, we’re like one of 3 families, and yet 59% of my county voted to remain. we only know one household in our street who voted to leave, and the guy has the gall to comment on all my family’s fb status, including “Its about getting our country back, but please dont leave [mum’s name] we like you”.
my university, on the other hand, relies heavily on their international students, and their erasmus exchanges - which i am going on in less than 4 months. i will likely be one of the last few people from a british uni taking part in an erasmus exchange. basically all unis with language degrees rely on the eu to be able to send their students to different countries - it’s literally a requirement for their degrees to live abroad.
i basically only have like, 3 scottish friends now, all the rest are from other countries, and that’s beautiful, but now when we all graduate and have to leave the country, it’s going to be so much more expensive for us to see eachother again. i’m probably going to be bouncing around eu countries when i graduate until i can save up money to move to canada, which i certainly won’t be able to do in the british economy, having to pay for work visas because i refuse to change my nationality.
just.. this is such a mess. i’m very upset.
