The engagement party from hell!
Elin's estranged brother Isaac has invited her and her husband to a weekend at Le Sommet to celebrate his recent engagement. However, this is the last place that Elin wants to be. She's still on leave from her job as a detective after a particularly upsetting case. She is also still working through the trauma of the death of her brother when they were children, a death that she believes Isaac was involved with.
Le Sommet is a former sanatorium located on a remote mountain in the Swiss Alps, redesigned to be a luxury resort. The grisly artifacts of it's history are strewn in a macabre display throughout the hotel. A fact that puts Elin on edge.
The weather turns, and a severe storm comes in, trapping the guests who couldn't evacuate. No one can come and no one can go.
When bodies start to appear, and Laure goes missing, Elin is thrust into the investigation. But is she capable of handling the pressure?
Who is on the mountain with them?
This really reminded me of My Bloody Valentine. I really loved the mood that it was striking, but the storyline definitely gets repetitive, and I wasn't really surprised by the twist. Still a fun quick thriller that dips its toes into the pool of horror.
