I have seen a number of Animalian been confused when they come across white elytra colored Nigrum and a red one and I tell them that they are the same subspecies. Although there coloring looks quite different, I assure you, they all share the same stories and are born from the same eggs. In fact, the Nigrum have 3 main color variations, white, grey and black.

It isn't until pupation where a Nigrum will know what color their elytra will be with many grubs hoping that they will get a certain coloration. There is a high chance one will get the same color as one of their parents, however it isn't guaranteed.
