Things that make me happy ask
Okay, second time I’m answering, though I won’t send it out because I’d just send it to the same people (with maybe a couple different person) and it’d just turn into an endless loop of what makes us happy. I’ll also say different things, too and more detail, if I can.
@bones-and-tomes sent me in an ask but I accidentally hit the wrong button and got rid of it, so here it is as a text post.
1. When the trees and grass have frost on them and are white-tipped and the air is crisp and the grass crunches when you walk on it because it’s the best time to curl up with some hot cocoa and read a book.
2. When the only light in a room is the moonlight, or a few candles because it’s so aesthetic and pretty, and watching the flames in the dark is so beautiful, with the way it moves and lights up the room (I’m not a pyromaniac, I swear)
3. When I make a new recipe for the first time and it turns out really well (especially if it was a difficult recipe). Or just baking in general, I love it. I love the smell of baking, too, though it makes me hungry and impatient for whatever I’m making to be done already.
4. When I’m just having a normal, boring day at school and a random stranger in the hall gives me a compliment, no matter how small it might be. It makes my day, I rarely get comments.
5. I have a mini-collection of dragon statues (they’re all hatching from an egg) ((and a wolf statue)) on my bookshelf and whenever I look at them I get this kinda bubbly, happy feeling in my chest because I feel like I’ve adopted them and they’re one of the closest things I’ll ever have to kids (besides dogs), and I love them so much.
6. When I randomly gets bursts of inspiration to do something that I’ve never done or thought of doing before. Like, after WKM I had this urge to play the ending song but I’ve never touched a piano in my life. (Still have this urge, btw, so if you have a piano and are able to teach me, please do, my DMs are open)
7. When I’ve had a kinda shitty day and go sit on the couch to mellow and my dog hops up next to me, crawls in my lap and starts licking my hand. Makes my day 100x better.
8. When the house has lost power in the dead of winter, and it’s cold in the house so we gather up all the blankets and set up the lanterns and play some board games under the lantern’s light. My family gets so much closer when we lose power, we have a lot of fun and I love it.
9. Those times when I get really bored so I draw on my arm with sharpie (don’t judge) and the end result looks so good that I get sad when I have to wash it off.
10. When I’m home alone, just listening to music on YouTube and I sing along to whatever song I’m listening to super softly, so I barely hear myself and I harmonize with the song perfectly, hitting the right note (you know what I mean, when you hit the note just right. It feels great) and for a moment I feel like I can actually sing (I can’t, really. Not well)
11. Watching my breath drift away in the cool morning air. Again, it’s aesthetic. I love aesthetic things, and, you can do that thing you did when you were a kid and pretend you’re smoking. (I know you did it at least once, don’t lie)
12. Collapsing into bed after a long, exhausting day. It almost makes the day worth it, in that moment.
13. Going to the bowling alley and becoming a kid again, going to the arcade to get tokens and playing the impossible crane games, getting a temporary tattoo and putting it on in the bathroom (bonus if it’s with friends).
14. Discovering a new favorite song and listening to it nonstop for a week.
15. Watching my dog do something really silly (like his run-dance right after he gets out of the bath) and he makes me laugh, especially if my day wasn’t the best.
There! I think these are better things, and I know I said I’d do 10 to make up for not sending it to other people, but I got a little carried away. I stopped myself at 15, though, so it’d be up today like I said it would be.
