finally finally we get to talk about my GUY
Matt Smith is Bishop Nills
Song: Goner “Beaten down, I’ll slip away”
Symbolizes: Suicide and Depression
Vialist Maxim: In Death I am free
The Gardener of the Necropolis, Father Nills, along with his Corpsebearers, care for the Glorified citizens of Dema. They perform the sacred processes of embalming, called “Harvesting”, including draining the blood of the Glorified which is made into the sacred ink that the Bishops smear citizens with. District 9 also holds the Kiln, where the neon markers are forged, and the only greenhouse in Dema that grows red carnations and uses the bodies of the Dishonored Dead as fertilizer.
Clancy was afraid of Father Nills as a child, describing how the Bishop has a “ghoulish” appearance. However, Father Nills is charismatic and witty, and has a very strong sense of humor that puts most citizens at ease. The Bishop’s citizens are described solemn and aloof, but they have a love and respect for their Bishop.
Among the other Bishops, Father Nills holds a lot of respect as the Gardener of the Necropolis, but often misses Council meetings, finding them tedious and dull. He also despises the Elite, and finds their status an insult to Vialism. Though he appears young, Nills is the oldest of all Nine Bishops, and there’s even rumors that he’s older than the city of Dema.
