Daily reminder to people who self diagnose that

And, my trained & professional therapist told me this

1. Symptoms are fluid. You will see symptoms from a ton of mental illnesses spread into other illnesses. Thats why you literally just can’t accurately self diagnose. It’s not that simple.

2. Diagnosis are actually only for billing. And, this is actually true. My therapist only puts diagnosis down so our insurance knows what I’m being treated for. “The diagnosis doesn’t matter here, at some point it might even become irrelevant, what’s more important is that I’m treating your symptoms.”

Thank you for bringing up the 2nd point especially.

I don't touch on it as much because I'm not as well versed in billing systems and insurance.
