a while ago a Japanese Touhou fanartist on Twitter pointed out that one of the leading etymologies for "kutakake" is that it probably came from a Japanese-Ainu creole, and from this you can make a case for Kutaka Niwatari being mixed Japanese-Ainu, and I just cannot stop thinking about that interpretation of her character

I have too many favorites in the Touhou Project series, but the first person I think of when I hear "Touhou" is my cherished daughter Hakurei Reimu. It's a very basic pick, I know. After all she's the main playable character in nearly every Touhou game, a borderline mascot for Touhou Project. But her carefree nature, her comedically exaggerated (in fanon) greed/laziness, and her kindness hidden behind blunt honest indifference marks her as a fave I can't forget.

Also "Neko Miko Reimu" plays in my head 24/7, 365 days a year and it's slowly driving me insane send help

Hong Meiling, hands down. She's often depicted as a slacker/incompetently lazy gatekeeper guard who's bad at danmaku but she's ALSO a trained martial artist who could probably kill a normal human being without so much as a sweat or deep breath so I respect that.

Hi yes hello do you have the time to talk about our beloved and most under appreciated 2hu younger sister Yorigami Jo'on? She's got a trashy personality sometimes but her taste is rich! Just make sure ya don't bring all of your cash on you when you meet her...

Compared to her elder sister everyone fawns over and pities for being a cool blue and adorably cute poverty god, Jo'on is what you might call a diamond in the rough, if she wasn't already wearing diamonds in public. She's still great tho.
