“Whoa,” Kane jolts out of his sleep, the book shielding the sun from his face sliding to the floor with a dull thud. He honestly can’t remember if he brought it as shade or to actually read it. One eye winks as harsh sunlight hits his face, surroundings flaming with too bright colors. His back’s got an annoying creak that he tries to stretch out, one arm extending into the air. “Dude, what day is it?” he asks through a yawn to the presence he’s vaguely aware of.

They desperately needed something to focus on what felt like at all times now otherwise they’d find themselves thinking too much. Alex was sitting on a chair in the infirmary, reading one of his textbooks as he completed his daily studies to refresh his memory on certain things. As he sat there, he heard someone approach him causing his attention to leave the book and be redirected to the person who had spoken. “I’m sorry, what did you need?” He asked for repetition, having not heard what he assumed to be a request the first time.
