Cat takes over DM’s screen. Cuteness for the win!
Well, I know what I’ll be doing-praying for meltage. The plow is stuck at the bottom of the hill. No idea how I’ll be leaving the Overlook Hotel.
Restoring the Gazebo
Part VI: Floor is almost finished!
The gazebo is 80% complete. The carpenters made huge progress on the floor today. The PVC flooring is sturdy tongue in groove and the octagonal pattern is looking good. the sides aren’t matching up, but it’s still a vast improvement over what was there.
The latticework on the bottom still has to be purchased and work remains to be done on the top supporting ornaments.
I’m a little concerned that the carpenter doesn’t seem to think the banisters need sanding? This doesn’t seem right.

Part III: More Demolitions
The floor has been ripped up and reinforced with a lot more spokes. Before it only had like six which made the whole structure wobbly. Today we got the columns delivered. It was great that the same exact design was available in EverTrue PVC Board, so no changes there. We cleared about 30 years worth of garbage from beneath the structure. The original compartments lifted and the previous homeowner had stashed lawn chairs and a bunch of other stuff that got trapped in there once the trees grew in. Fun.
On another note, we’re bracing for another nor’easter. Yuck!

Part II: Demolition Day 1
A lot of demolition happened today. Many of the ornaments and panels were taken down and cataloged. Part of the floor was removed and the structure was braced for the incoming storm. The shot of the column shows just how badly deteriorated the wood is.

Part IV: Flooring and columns going in
The new columns are in, but as it turns out the new ones have more square space on the bottom than the top and now the original ornaments hang over the round parts. This looks odd. We are debating making new ones from PVC board and/or reconfiguring the originals to fit. The new floor looks fabulous!
Sliver of blue sky peeking through.
It is gorgeous out! Gonna run out with the good camera in a bit! Will post more later.
