if you have ever used this website to chime in with your two cents on american politics, or the 2016 election, or hillary vs bernie, or any goddamn sjw thing at all, it is time to bone the fuck up and call your fucking senator about Trumpcare the capitol switchboard is at 202-224-3121 this bill asphyxiates Medicaid, defunds Planned Parenthood, and eliminates essential health benefits which in turn will make insurance unaffordable for those with preexisting conditions no excuses, no armchair activism. if you called already, call again. if your senator is a Democrat, tell them to do anything and everything available - publicly, procedurally - to delay this vote. if they're a Republican LIGHT THEM THE FUCK UP. it is time. think about anyone in your life who has a preexisting condition, or who depends on Medicaid or PP for survival. we all know someone, or multiple someones - for any number of us you may not have to look any farther than yourself. this is what we have to lose. call 202-224-3121 today and everyday until this bill is dead

They Don’t Care

I want to take a moment and talk a little more about this post that I recently reblogged. At this point, we’ve all seen the photos of protesters being handcuffed and detained at the Capitol. As a community, we’re doing our best to rally around those in custody and provide help in whatever way we can (I’ve donated to their legal fund and so should you). 

But I’m not here right now to talk about how supportive and awesome our community is. Instead, I want to talk about stuff I’ve been seeing in the reblogs. Stuff like this:

I want to make something perfectly clear here: The Medicare cuts are going to kill us, and they don’t care. Our representatives don’t care and society at large doesn’t care. In fact, people are taking glee at the sight of disabled people being taken into custody, handcuffed, and removed from their medical devices because they do not care if we live or die. Our death is not a tragedy. To them, our death is a cost saving measure. To them, there is no such as murder through indifference. 

And to answer the commenter’s question: Yes, we do want to be treated like normal people. Normal people don’t have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for their daily medication. Normal people do not have to hold a “crawl in” so that physical barriers to public buildings get removed. Normal people do not wake up every morning wondering if today will be the first day of a slow and agonizing death because they can no longer afford the medical treatment they need to survive. We want nothing more than to be given a chance at finding the best normal we are able, and what our government is trying to do destroys that chance completely.
