Listen, I am not saying I planned the perfect holiday - if I’d do it again I’d do one less day in Catania, one more day in Palermo and I wouldn’t get a cold for two days keeping me from highly anticipated beach and temple trips.
But generally the route Catania - Palermo - (ferry) - Naples is an excellent October holiday for anybody that enjoys looking at old things (castles, churches, temples, houses), climbing some hills (and volcanoes) and eating lots of (mostly fried) food.
