There's a container ship currently stuck off the coast of Haida Gwaii. Attempts to move it have so far been unsuccessful, and it could run aground as early as tonight. If you still think it's a good idea to have supertankers running up and down the coast of BC, think again.

i have difficulties, with advocating the environment to some people... especially when people I love, people who are family, don't agree with my perspectives. I have difficulties separating the love and affection I have for them, from being fully unable to empathize with their rationale, opinion, ignorance, or stance.

As I was stuck on that thought earlier, it hit me today- (though, I've always known in roundabout ways) that the only way we can survive as a species, it to live in harmony with the earth. The earth gives us every single thing, we need in order to survive, and then some, for the sake of luxury... I'm exaggerating (slightly) when I say that we can survive with hemp and coconuts alone...

yet we're pulling further and further away from that understanding, that respect and appreciation, while still taking more and more than ever before... We have started to get cocky- as a species. We think we can recreate everything, and we somehow believe that we can build things better than nature. We don't even fully understand nature, and yet somehow thing we can recreate it?! Better?! Ridiculous.

There is nothing wrong with innovation and discovery, human intelligence, imagination and inclination. However, when we work against nature, instead of with it, we loose our power... and it surprises me, and it scares me, that some cannot recognize this. That they truly have no sense of connection to the fabric of space that transcends throughout the universe as we all know it, and is the glue that binds us to every single living organism known and unknown to human-kind... We think that we can take, and take, and take some more, abundantly, and endlessly? And that our children's children, and their children's children, will still have natural resources to use simply for economic growth and material gain? Give me a break. Nobody, no matter how ignorant, can seriously believe that. So what is it? What drives this need to constantly rape our earth of its resources? Is it seriously the invisible dollar? Credits, and debits. Cheques and balances. Accruals and payments. Invisible transactions or tangible exchanges of material goods. Have we become so backward in our thinking, that we believe the only way we can enjoy life, the only way to experience happiness, is to own boats, trucks and luxury automobiles? Have we become so out of touch with compassion, empathy, and connectivity, that we can't touch the earth and feel our own heartbeat in sync with the rhythm of our planet instead of picking up the same fucking pair of shoes or sunglasses that everyone around us owns? It's pathetic. People make too many fucking excuses for the almighty dollar, and have forgotten what truly matters in life. Myself included. Ask anyone around you, what the most important thing is in their life... Guaranteed, the majority will say family.  Not cars, not purses, or shoes, houses, boats or tv's... Separate yourself from your things for a moment, separate yourselves from delusional wants, and pretend all you have is your family and/or friends. Now. Picture you all sitting around together in a field. What do you need in order to survive? And then ask yourself... can nature can provide you with all that of which you need? unless you are a materialistic asshole- I'm sure you'd agree that she can...

The evening of June 17, hundreds of people stopped rush hour traffic on Georgia Street to voice their opposition against the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline.

The demonstration at the CBC building at Georgia and Hamilton streets was held just hours after the government of Prime Minster Stephen Harper granted conditional approval for the project.

TUESDAY JUNE 17TH 2014

Enbridge Protest

Daniel from Good For Grapes arrived, Sage from Beyond Boarding spoke to the crowd, Coast Salish peoples spoke & sang, and we marched for a solid 3 hours (at some point going over the Cambie Bridge). 

At a few intersection, we circled up and sang/danced with the Coast Salish peoples (for quite a lengthy period of time. Robson + Burrard went on for 40 mins).
