"I, for one, hope that this conference will be one of those rare occasions where everyone will have the chance to rise above the politics of the moment, and achieve true statesmanship.”

October 23, 2014 - ahhh Low battery
October 23, 2014 - Commute Day 167
Interesting evening-- I found myself jettisoning most of my 'to-do' list because after playing around with 'Our Lives, Our Time,' I rediscovered the Bm7 chord form that apparently I haven't used in years, and that reminded me of my song about my eyebrows from 2007 where I also used the chord. I then decided to spend a couple hours trying to (finally) record a youtube version of the song. I don't think I quite got it to the quality level I was hoping for, but I'm hoping to watch the footage on the train... but, well, you'll see. Also, Liz is coming home today. Hooray!!
7:30 AM- alarm. Yippee for super cuddly pets.
7:42 - up.
7:57 - depart. man it's gross out. well, pretty up here, but probably gross in the city. No, I know it's gross in the city.
8:18 - train departs. I'll just pull out my laptop and... oh, look, it's nearly dead. I have just enough time to dump my video/audio files from last night off the computer and start to create an illustrator file for Terra Neo that proved to be redundant since it's been so long since I've looked at this game. I managed to also watch a little more of the 'Dead Like Me' pilot before the battery died. So I read feedly and listened to some of the Indoor Kids podcast.
9:25 - arrived at GCT. I decide the rain is a little too much and take the subway. I arrives pretty quick.
9:46 - arrive at my office
Total commute time today: 1:51

October 20, 2014 - Commute Day 164
Liz is up north-- her grandmother fell down the stairs in her house, so her brother Kelsey (who was visiting us) took Liz with him back to Vermont. We’re all praying for her. And so I’m left by myself for the first time since we moved into the house. It certainly is a different atmosphere being in that big house all alone with a buch of pets. Lonely, but kind of serene. Obviously there’s more chores to be done :P
7:30 AM - Alarm. I actually get up quickly, since I know I’m going to need some extra time to figure out parking. Luckily, on the way back from The Blaze last night, I found the parking area I’ll need to go today, so at least I have some confidence.
7:58 - Whew! I’ve walked Sadie, fed everyone, grabbed my lunch, gotten dressed in a ton of layers, and departed with a lot of quarters for parking. Did I mention it’s really cold? It’s really cold.
8:11 - After listening to NPR for the drive (that’s nice), and spilling hot tea all over the place (not so nice) I arrive at the paid parking area, and though I have trouble finding which meter goes to my parking space, at least I found a parking space. Also, there seems to already be a bunch of money in it... hm. So I just add coins to it until it hits 12:00. And then I’m confused because I think that means noon, so I try to add more coins. Unsuccessfully.
8:20 - I had to run a little to catch the train, but I caught it. Not as far forward in the cars as I like to be, and then it departed a couple minutes late. Then I was super hot and had to discard three layers of clothing. Seriously-- here’s what I had on my torso: a tshirt, a long-sleeve button-down shirt, a sweashirt, and a jean jacket. Also, ear muffs. Anyway, I’m starting to feel convinced I lost my Nook, which is sad, so I’ll file a lost and found report. But I spend the train ride alternating between typing more for my long-overdue website posts, and also listening to the awesome Chad Stokes song ‘Our Lives, Our Time’ and attempting to memorize/properly transcribe the lyrics.
8:28 - train arrives in grand central. Why does the schedule continue to say this train only takes an hour? Lies! Oh well. It takes a bit to get a bike, but then it’s smooth sailing. I listen to a Marc Maron episode talking to Tim and Eric, who I only recently became aware of thanks to an utterly bizarre and possibly brilliant Jeff Goldblum light bulb commercial.
8:50 - arrive at office.
Total commute time this morning: 1:52
