fukiko ichinomiya is a lesbian and this is a big part of her character but everyone wants to make her straight because her comphet is really bad but what no one gets is that she creates this idealized reality for herself because she wants more than anything to appear normal so she can fit in with the rest of high class society and thats half the reason she hates rei because rei is so unabashedly a lesbian and that idea is terrifying and disgusting to fukiko. because to her being a lesbian is inherently low class and she cant stoop to that level because it means she hasnt earned her place in society. she doesnt even like any actual thing that henmi says to her shes obsessed with the sonnet, with another persons words, because if she takes it as what henmi says then she has true love. but she doesnt like the actual henmi, the avoidant flake... and you have to think about it in the sense that she literally is seiran, she is the genre that allows girls to mess around with girls in school, but the moment they leave they better be normal..! she uses this against nanako constantly! oh youre so beautiful oh youre so feminine i can help you find lots of men stay away from rei from this girl you like come towards me instead and be normal....! it really does take rei dying to break fukiko out of this reality shes put herself in. because its what makes her realize that she was in fact in love with rei. even post her death though fukiko is lamenting that rei never found true love because she wasnt in love with a man... fukiko is probably doomed forever......
