Big Chief Dawg Ralph
God, seeing this many boys is really overwhelming. The island feels foreign, and the boys even more so. During the first meeting of us all, we had a vote on who should be our chief between Jack and me. The choir wanted their leader, Jack Merridew, to be chief, so they were the only ones to vote for him. Seeing all these random boys choosing me as the one to lead the group invoked a drive to protect these littluns and biguns. Even back home, I never really had a drive to do much of anything. But on the island, it gave me a purpose and a goal instead of my previous life of monotony. Hopefully, I will not let these kids down in the end.
Oddly enough, being on the island does not seem so bad. Yes, I am here with these random boys, and there are no adults, but this may prove an excellent opportunity to become responsible and not rely on our parents. We also have this time to do whatever we want without the adults here. We have the whole island to ourselves, and I think we will do just fine in navigating it. My only hope is that the parents return soon. I do not want to find out how crazy these boys get when they are isolated from society. Or maybe I am more fearful of how crazy I will become.
