Your eyes are closed, taking a deepbreath, as you smell the fresh air and enjoying the sunlight hitting your face. You needed to get away from Lestallum and it has been especially busy sincerefugees from Insomnia started flooding in. As a resident of Lestallum, youtried the best you could to help people, providing essentials to the refugees, and trying to provide them a place to stay. Your place isn’t too small, but itisn’t too large either. You decided to let one family stay at your place untilsomeone else could provide a more spacious place for them. The hotel was niceenough to provide rooms free of charge to refugees, but there are only so manythey could take in without losing profits and paying customers need a room aswell. The family that had been staying at your place finally found a place oftheir own and thanked you for your services. They wanted to pay you for thetrouble, but you insisted on them keeping the payment, as they need it far morethan you do. To be quite honest, you were starting to enjoy their company andare starting to get used to the idea of them staying if there are no otherplaces available at all.
Youopen your eyes and looked up at the sky, enjoying the nice and sunny weather.Suddenly, you heard growling off the distance and hairs started rising on theback of your neck. Trying so hard not to become startled, you slowly turnedaround and faced a pack of feral wolves stalking towards you, some of themstarting to spread out as if they were to trap their prey. You are about tobecome their next meal if you don’t do something soon. It’s not like youweren’t any good at fighting, but facing a pack of wolves alone isn’t going toguarantee you getting away without a scratch or two. Instead, your instinct istelling you to take the flight plan instead of fighting. The wolves arestarting to close the circle around you and you look around for anything usefulto use to provide a safer route out towards your car. Why didn’t you think tocheck the environment before settling in the spot? “I should’ve known…” youmuttered to yourself. One of the wolves leaped towards you and, in an instant, you took out your weapon to try pushing them away. The wolf yelped in pain asyou were able to put a scratch on them, but it’s still moving about. Anotherone of the wolves was about to sink their teeth in your back, but a spearpierced through them out of nowhere. You looked around for any other civiliansnearby and saw a group of four boys running towards you. A gunshot went off toanother wolf aiming for your neck and you heard shouting from the big man withtattoos, “Hey! You okay?!” You nodded and got back up on your feet, readyingyour weapon to help take the rest out with the boys.
Afterthe rest of the wolves is deemed deceased, you put your hands on your knees tocatch your breath. Of course, you’ve been trying to train yourself to be ableto defend yourself, but it wasn’t as tough as this pack of wolves. However, thegroup of boys seemed used to the fighting, as not one of them seemed out ofbreath. “You almost became wolf food. You should be more careful,” a man withwhat seemed like prince fatigues clothing. You put two and two together andrealized you’re speaking with Noctis. “Oh!” you quickly pulled yourselftogether and stood straight, putting out a hand, “thank you very much. Ishould’ve known… anyways, thank you.”
“It’sno problem!” Prompto called out from behind, putting a hand on Noctis’shoulder, and greeted you with a hand. Noctis bowed his head and smiled, “Wewere heading to Lestallum when we saw you being surrounded by a pack of wolves.Ignis is the first one to notice, though.” You looked at Ignis and nodded yourhead, thanking him. He smiled and bowed back, “Need a ride to Lestallum?” Youshook your head and motioned towards your car, “I got a ride. Thanks! Um,follow me to Lestallum? It’s pretty busy right now, but I could imagine why youwanted to be there. But, hey, I’m being so rude! My name is [y/n], nice to meet‘cha!” The boys introduced themselves, walking back to the cars.
That is the day, even though it was by an ambush from a pack of wolves, you met Noctis. Italmost seemed like fate or destiny, although you are aware that Noctis is towed Lady Lunafreya. You put it out of your head the chances of being withPrince Noctis, but you couldn’t help it when you slowly find yourself fallingfor him. You helped provided essentials for the boys whenever they’re in townafter a hunt or two or helping refugees with a certain quest. Noctis, beingterrible at expressing himself, admitted sheepishly that he was starting tofall for you too. Although, every time he is around you, he acts different thanhe did with the others. You couldn’t decide if it is a good or a bad thing andyou already tried asking Prompto, his best friend, about it. Even Prompto hasno clue why Noctis is behaving strangely around you, but he doubts it hassomething to do with anything negative. You stopped trying to figure it out along time ago.
Several monthslater, you and Noctis had been dating each other for a while now. Noctis showedyou a letter from Lady Lunafreya giving the two of you her blessings to betogether. He wanted to show you the letter to cast aside any doubt of whetherthe two of you should be together or not. Lately, though, you could feel astrong presence and a cry off the distance. When Noctis called you, he statedhe has to look for one of the God, Ramuh, as per Lunafreya’s request. Youthought to yourself that maybe it was that presence you felt and you were ableto hear Ramuh somehow involuntarily. Although, you brushed it aside as youthought it wasn’t a big deal.
After grabbingRamuh and the boys were able to come back to Lestallum, Noctis finally got youall to himself in your place. You decided to make hot tea and put on sometelevision to relax with him. You had spent nearly all day, helping to healpeople, and providing other aid towards hunters and refugees alike. All youwanted to do is relax, but Noctis seemed to have a worry look on his face.“You’re not good at hiding your feelings, you know,” you commented and Noctislooked away from the television to face you. Sipping the tea, you looked athim, and smiled, “You need to tell me what’s going on. Something’s botheringyou.” Noctis shook his head and opened his mouth to say something, but shut hismouth again. You groaned in frustration, putting your cup down on the coffeetable, and turned your whole body towards him, placing a hand on his cheek.
“You’re getting meall worried. I’m sure if you get it off your chest, you’ll feel better.”
Noctis lookeddown, silence and tension filling up the room. Finally, he said, “There issomething you should know.” Immediately, you thought of all possible scenariosthat could happen in that moment. Maybe Noctis changed his mind about you anddecided to go back to Lady Lunafreya. You cursed to yourself in your mind thatyou should’ve known better. Noctis noticed how uneasy you suddenly became andquickly added, “It’s about you.”
“You’re not makingthis situation any easier.”
“No, no. Not likethat! Gods, I’m terrible at this.”
You waited a fewmoments until finally, Noctis decided to spit it out, “I’ve been actingstrangely because I’ve been having dreams about you. Uh… that Lady Lunafreya isnot the only one…”
“Not the only one? What do you mean? Noctis, I’m confused.”
“You’re an Oracle.”
You stared at himwith a blank face, not sure if he is joking or being for real. The look on hisface says it all, though and you decided to take him seriously.
“What do you meanI’m an Oracle? I do nothing special.”
Noctis shook hishead as if he doesn’t really know the answer to that and it is true; he reallydoesn’t know the answer.
“All I know isthat it needed to be unlocked…. somehow, one way or another.”
You stared at yourhot tea still steaming up and decided that there is too much noise coming fromthe television that you turned it off with the remote. It explains Noctis’strange behavior and the uneasy feeling when he went off on the Ramuh quest. The Oracle status is locked deep inside you, waiting to be awaken, but you’renot sure if you’re ready to take on such responsibility. You looked at Noctis, jabbing your index finger to his chest, “How long have you known?” Noctis shookhis head, replying quickly, “It doesn’t matter, but—”
“How long?”
“… I had dreamshere and there, but it wasn’t confirmed until I met you.”
A quick littlegasp escaped from your mouth and you quickly got up, trying to decide what todo because so many emotions came at once; confusion, disappointment, anger, andsadness came at once. On the other hand, you also have the willpower to helppeople somehow. Lunafreya’s role seemed such a daunting task and you could tellit takes a toll on her trying to heal people from the plague. It’s more likeshe’s trying to give them more time to say goodbye to their loved ones since itseems that there are no permanent cure for such a plague. You start to wonderif anyone else knew. Noctis placed a hand on your shoulders, turning you aroundto face him. You looked at him and noticed such concern in his expression thatyou decided to let it go even though you wished you had known earlier. Placinga hand over his, you finally asked, “D-does… anyone else know?” Noctis shookhis head in reply and you sigh in relief. You don’t want anyone else to startcoming to you for healing from the plague because you have no idea how to do itin the first place. It seems that Lady Lunafreya has some kind of guidance onusing her healing powers, but you have yet to fully unlock the oracle status.Maybe seeking out Lady Lunafreya will help you point towards the rightdirection on what to do. That is, if you’re ready to take on the responsibilityof becoming the Oracle. Lady Lunafreya became the youngest Oracle in historyand you have to respect her for being able to do that at such a young age. Finally, you decided to accompany Noctis on the rest of his journey. “I wouldlike to travel with you on your journey,” you claim.
“W-what? No! Imean, it’s dangerous out there and I rather you be safe here.”
“I’ll be fine withyou and the others. I want to understand my Oracle powers. It’s obvious that Ihaven’t fully unlocked them yet. I would like to understand how and why.”
“[y/n], please. Ishouldn’t have told you this.”
“No, you’re rightto tell me! I don’t know how long you were planning to hide this from me, but I’mnot going to be mad at you any longer. I just… I want to know.”
Noctis opened hismouth to further protest, but he saw such determined expression on your facethat he quickly learned that you weren’t going to change your mind. You’regoing with him one way or another. He would rather keep the Oracle statusbetween you and him as well as the Gods and Goddesses obviously. Finally,Noctis nodded once and added, “Alright. You just…. stick close to Gladio andIgnis. They’ll protect you better than I ever could, but I’ll still be keepingan eye on you.” You grinned and embraced him for a long time, taking in hisscent and you feel his arms wrapping around you. This is it. The start of yourjourney alongside with Noctis and the boys. Lady Lunafreya makes it look easy, but she’s someone you could finally look up to.
