Kathryn Johnson of Public Citizen flew from Washington D.C. to New Orleans to help urge Cedric Richmond oppose the “fast tracking” of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), a mammoth trade deal that will undermine labor, health, and environmental policies in the United States and allow corporations to sue federal and state governments for passing legislation that results in a loss of profit.

The TPP is the largest trade agreement in the history of the United States.  “Fast tracking” the deal would allow the president to push it through congress in 90 days with a simple majority and no amendments.    Johnson discusses the implications of the agreement and the various negative impacts it will have on workers and citizens.
