review by legitmängo
this thing is right here. will accompany you through the times of relaxation. you wont feel a thing! actually NEHZUIL has been producing some cool stuffs since i first stumbled upon the soundcloud page. its like hummus. its healthy and also very delicious. his co-op mode with Milan resembles blue and red. surely some tad bit strong colours but compliment each other and does look good. nevertheless thats what u want from a song. a strong sensation of feeling! id recommend his soundcloud page. cuz duh its awesome!

TUNES OF THE DAY : MAXO - CRUSH~
A total labor of love. The “Chordslayer” Maxo, NY born beatmaker invites us to experience a somewhat beautiful piece that REALLY resembles love!
SONG OF THE DAY : JOHNNY BORELL AFTERLIFE - FUTURE OF THE LEFT
"Roy, just a boy just a boy, With the biggest head in school, Just a boy just a boy, With the brightest future." See, there isn't much more music like these nowadays. That juvenile shit, something to accompany you doing stupid things with your blokes, yeah. So good to came across these kind of shit again.
SONG OF THE DAY : HAIL HOLY QUEEN - BRITISH SEA POWER
"I'm at your feet, I'm at your command, Hail holy queen of the sea."
A song from British Sea Power's last year release, "Machineries of Joy" a really magnificent release, a fable-like album for me. With literary reference that I can't really grasp, but it's them nonetheless. This song with its more nature thing and less with the literary reference, is one if the best in the album.
As a part of "Transatlanticism" 10th Anniversary, Death Cab For Cutie has released this reissue of Transatlanticism's demo. Well, I may have not listened to Death Cab for Cutie since the start. Hell, I started listening to them since 2009 I guess. But it doesn't need a die hard fan of them to like this reissue. Well yes, it's the same death cab for cutie with their moaning and all that. But this is something they've been doing all the time, embracing sadness. Of course some people are arsed with this fact, but meh, we all need some dose of sadness in our lives I guess.
But this particular song, "We Looked Like Giants" is by far, the most stunning thing I've ever listened from them. The 8-Bit drum was something else, and of course the meaning of the song itself is something that Death Cab for Cutie is best at. Past love, looking back at someone from sometime that looked so far away. "God bless the daylight, the sugary smell of springtime Remembering when you were mine" and of course all the good times we've had with her, "We looked like giants in the back of my grey subcompact Fumbling to make contact As your parents slept inside" They described it all so well, we all looked like giants when we were with them.Probably doing some stupid stuff and all, but that's the whole point, right? Some sort of cliche, yes. But it was so good that sometimes, you have to embrace these embarrassing feeling and nostalgia. Damn, I got all emotional with this song. But then the turn of events that brought us here, to be feeling this feeling at all, "And from this floor I can see through your window next door He’s strumming a tune on the toy guitar I gave to you You throw your head back, so overcome with laughter" All of those moments of being a "giant" together all puffed out as we parted with our past loves, it became a distant memory that sometimes slipped in moments, moments like this.
REVIEW TIME : YUCK - GLOW AND BEHOLD
Yuck – Glow & Behold
Kinda surprised they actually came up with something this year. I know the actual release of “Glow and Behold” itself was months ago maybe. But it’s been a long time since I reviewed a whole album, and so far Yuck’s “Glow & Behold” is something I dare to review. There were other release these past months, such as Mùm’s “Smilewound” then Blood Orange’s “Cupid Deluxe” and of course the much awaited “Reflektor” by Arcade Fire. And with Daniel Blumberg departure from the band, the idea of having something new from Yuck since their first album in 2011 didn’t occur to me until “Glow & Behold” actually released.
Surprisingly, it’s the same old Yuck. Pretty much. The convoluted music of Yuck. Oh yes it is. And it is somewhat more mature than their previous release. Their songs are more personal than before, well it has always been personal. Most people categorized Yuck as “Rock” or “alternative” or something like that. Well it isn’t. I guess Yuck’s music always has it charms, and it’s not all noise and rock and all that. You can always feel the softer side of it, the chill side. Some shoegaze influence I guess, kind of post-punk but not really it. In “Glow & Behold” you really can feel the chill, melancholy Yuck.
Although convoluted, noisy, often juvenile, sometimes cliché, Glow and Behold have a story. In their songs the “Maple Shade” reference often came up. The sadness, desperation for someone, it all adds up. Hell, it made me sad too. “How magical, I’ll later fake, the end of time, to make you mine” in Memorial Fields really sprawl me up. It’s an honest, personal story from Yuck. It’s like maple shade is a place somewhere across the ocean where sad people move away meet up, after all their problems. And they all glow and behold. Man, I want to be there.
SONG OF THE DAY : THE HELIO SEQUENCE - OCTOBER
Here's for one hell of a month, either it's a bad one or good one for y'all, this song fits the occasion just right. And it's just not because the title, the despair and the joy in this song and all that. I know it's not the end of the month yet, but let's just cherish these times while we're at it.
