Le Palais de Cristal compared to Symphony in C.

Balanchine choreographed Le Palais de Cristal for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1947 to showcase the talent of the entire company. The following year he restaged the ballet with his new Ballet Society, which later became the New York City Ballet and renamed it Symphony in C. Balanchine changed some choreography (mainly in the first and second movements) and made the costumes black and white instead of the multicolored crystal colors of Palais de Cristal. As of 2020, POB is the only company that performs Le Palais de Cristal with other professional companies including the New York City Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet, and Bolshoi ballet performing Symphony in C.
Ballet being passed down hand to hand, foot to foot. Proper gargouillades, far more impressive than any glorified oversplit.
