Re: Ceasar - Yes, 'cause one people attacking another 300 years earlier justifies enslaving and wiping out their entire civilisation and writing hateful propaganda about the ones you can't be bothered to wipe out. (The Celts in Gaul had easily conquered towns and a lot of gold. The Germanic tribes weren't rich.) Tell that to the French during WWII, I'm sure they deserved it 'cause of Napoleon. And one man ruling everything for the rest of his life is better than elections, obviously.

Hmm, don't let that anon fool you. Caesar was killed because he wished to take power out of the hands of the corrupt Senate that had gotten fat and rich off the backs of the Roman Plebian class. He sought dictatorial powers because the Senate wouldn't allow his reformations otherwise. Also of note was that the Gauls sacked Rome 300 yrs prior to Caesar's Gallic Wars and during those Germanic tribes helped Gaulish forces.
