After many years of curiosity about this movie I finally watched it!

Norbert Schiller, so pretty and entertaining that after being drafted into the First World War as a very young man, he was moved to a Concert Party for the officers. Afterwards, with no formal training, he auditioned for and received a place in the Vienna State Opera. He then toured the country with the Frankfurt Theater Ensemble and went on to play the role of Romeo in Munich for an amazing 50-week run. Presumably, they knew that they'd have mass rioting if they chose someone less pretty for the part after he'd set the bar so high.

When the Nazi's came to power he escaped to Vienna and then later on England and LA, and spent the rest of his life playing bit parts and cameos due to his poor English. He acted from 1922 to 1979, died in 1988, and in his time was both a stunning hottie, and wrote poetry and plays, much of his earlier work ending up on the Berlin cabaret scenes.
