What inspired your choice in the courses you used in Not By A Long Shot, if anything? :) I was pleasantly surprised to see Northstar Islands make an appearance.

Great question!! I was mostly inspired by the little launch day promo (at least I think it was the launch day promo? It was this ad in particular).

It used a lot more courses than I did, but I really like how it started out since I was kind of following the trajectory of Shadow taking Tails out of the race early, so I wanted Northstar Islands to be the first lap. Then out of the crossworld tracks, Holoska is one of my favorites, and the image of Tails going for the flight path over the water really stuck with me <3 Then since the promo ended on E Stadium, and beacuse it also made sense to me for that to be a physical place for a crowd to gather and for them to have practiced at beforehand, I picked that as the final leg of the race!

Glad you were happy to see Northstar Islands there! There are so many good courses and I thought about making the race longer to incorporate more of them, but I also felt like there was only so much I could do to make the race part as interesting to read as it is to watch or play, lol.

Hello! No.4 really sparked my interest 😄

I'm a sucker for classic Knuckles content, especially when he's still antagonistic toward Sonic and Tails.

hi oh my gosh another person I admire + love the work of actually asking abt my little stuff,, (im mostly normal I promise🥺)

This one still starts w notes but I ended up writing a chunk of it properly that just needs editing, so I might do that soon with this inspiration to revisit it!

Answering on phone is so dicey rip but at least I can't screenshot or copy paste from the notes so don't have to write the whole thing out again - makes it easier to have the energy/motivation to edit this section on laptop when I can hopefully!

It only took another precious second of hesitanty until knuckles sternly covered the rest of the distance between him and the intruders and crouched at the hedgehogs side, glancing at the kits wide eyes that rose to meet his approach.

"Put him on his side," knuckles ordered, not wasting time. The fox had said he still had a heartbeat but it wouldn't last long if he wasn't woken, and who knew how long it had been since he had stoped holding his breath in the water

To his credit, the fox quickly, though with a little bit of struggle that had knuckles wondering how old this kit was, pushed the hedgehog until his back was facing knuckles, then scurried over to the other side to assumingly see the uedgehogs face, glancing from it to knuckles with wide eyes.

Knuckles briefly wondered if he even should be helping, or if it even would help or it was already too late, but banished thinking in favour of finding a space between the hedgehogs spines and forming a fist, but instead of driving it spikes first into his enemys vulnerable form, thumped it against the back with thumb on top.

Nothing happened, though knuckles wasn't sure what he was expecting. Still, since he was in this situation now, he repeated the action a few times, and in the middle of wondering if he would have to take responsibility for this apparently baby fox he'd accidently but also on purpose killed the friend of, another strong blow suddenly made the hedgehogs body twitch and a choked gasp cut the silence.

Knuckles set his face and smacked the back again, watching as the foxs ears flattened against his head as he drew impossibly closer to his friend, seeming to keep silence in hope that the hedgehog would make more noise.

And after another smack, incredibly, the hedgehog started coughing in a strained drawn out way, water seeping out of his mouth with each forceful action that almost spasmed his body. But between each few choked sounds, his entire body heaved with the effort of drawing in a small amount of air that enabled more productive coughing, and the ability to wheeze more air each time to replace his starving lungs from water

Knuckles couldn't help but raise an eye marking in muted surprise. Given the time he'd taken to check on the intruders and eventually offer a small bit of help, he was a little surprised that the hedgehog had managed to survive practically drowning with only the supreme efforts of his fox friend dragging him out and the force of knuckles' strength in a latent attempt to knock the water out of him.

As the fox fussed over his friend as, against all odds, the hedgehog slowly started breathing deeply, though raspy, between coughs that expelled more water than someone of that size should be able to inhale and survive,

And realising that the hedgehog was also defying expectation with how he was already trying to regain control of his body and come round from near death unconsciousness, knuckles silently slipped to his feet and backed up, still watching as the fox kit whimpered in both fear and elation as he half sobbed half shook

Knuckles let himself fade into the shadows of hydrocity and towards the surface

Sonic forced himself to draw a deep ragged breath despite still feeling his lungs were more than half filled with water.

But he knew it was just panic and fear now, as another bout of coughing barely produced anything but drops that mingled with the dripping from his quills and fur. Sonic stared at the puddles on his hands and knees, blankly trying to gather himself.

"Sonic? Are- are y-you okay now?"

Slowly the squeak of a terrified voice made words that sonics waterlogged brain eventually recognised. He stayed still for a few more seconds, heartbeat pounding in his ears marking the time, then managed to lift a hand just slightly and form a shaky thumb up.

(that's all on the notes, not sure how much more to do I think, I love classic boys but sadly less familiar w them bc I grew up on Lego SW and PS1 hp as a playstation girl rather than other consoles heh - sonic heroes PS2 my beloved,, I don't care if it didn't work past the first couple stages, my childhood was just replaying seaside hill until the tune still has permanent residence in my brain to this day)

So about your art trademark!!

I don't know how to say it properly, but to me, they don't feel like 2D drawings. Your characters LIVE in the space you draw them in.

The principle of animation called solid drawing, where the animator is able to draw any and every angle of the character, is something I'm reminded of looking at your work. They always feel like they're really in the space, and that I can just reach through the screen and squish 'em.

It's something I really admire :) looking at your stuff literally never ceases to give me dopamine, and I can tell it's your art immediately every time.

I read this one while I was at work, and I actually had to put my phone down so I could walk in 30 circles to expel the sheer amount of joy that slammed into my bones at Mach 10 😭 This means so so SO much to me, especially coming from you! I've always wanted to animate but I've never known where to start. It goes against the workflow I'm used to in a way- I draw FAST. Stupidly fast. I don't think people realize that 90% of my posts are done in 15 minutes or less 🤣

The sheer amount of frames, the precision, the clean lines- woUgH. It's stressful! But hearing that I'm already doing something right, even accidentally, is SO rewarding to my silly brain! :'))

Speaking of, now that I'm out of my goofy brain funk, I'd love to try setting up a group doodle session again! OOO, and @0vergrowngraveyard 👀👀👀 Wanna draw the funny guys too? :000 I feel like that'd be a fun mix, but no pressure!

If you remember my post asking peeps for cute unbreakable bond examples, I wanted to say it's so nice to know I'm not the only one who loves the Sonic 4 Ep. 2 animations. My sis and I played that game so much just because of how cute the brothers are in it, even tho we never touched the first episode 😂 plus it was pretty fun, but I'm a little biased.

Anyway I definitely wasn't looking at reblogs because I started that project I teased in the post 😈 thanks for the material!

I totally remember that post! I actually think about it quite a bit ^^;; Very curious and excited about the project you're planning, I love your art so much! They're such little guys, but so expressive! <3

And yessss, you understand the beauty of Sonic 4 Ep. 2!! It needs so much more love and appreciation! And I'm in the same boat, I never played Ep. 1 either (though I love a good Splash Hill Zone meme, lol), but Ep. 2 has so much charm and really interesting level designs, even beyond Sonic and Tails's adorable animations! That's so cool you played it with your sis, I'm still on the hunt for someone to co-op with me someday xD But those really sound like some awesome memories you guys made together <3

And now that you've said that, I will 100% be keeping an eye out for that project 👀 I'm sure you're going to make us all explode with feelings of cuteness and love for the unbreakable bond ever <3
