Hubby and I just finished watching Passion of the Christ... And now I'm sitting on my front porch in the dark and listening to the wind and feeling the cool breeze on my face while working on some bible word searches.
I've watched some of the worst horror movies in the world without flinching or cringing... I've watched 120 Days of Sodom, Baskin and many more besides...
But that was horrific to watch. Knowing that actually happened to Him. The scourging, nailing the crown of thorns to His head, carrying the cross...
The thing that truly sent me over the edge with watching it was when He was nailed to the cross and watching Mary's expression...
As someone who wants nothing more than to be a mother... I could never imagine the horror and the soul crushing agony of watching my child go through that... And knowing it had to happen for everyone to be saved.
And now... Having the opportunity to reflect upon it. I cannot thank Him enough for saving me from the damnation that had held me away from Him in the many years I wasn't with Him.
We don't deserve such a saviour as Him... But I'm so glad we have Him... And knowing He rose on the third day, winning victory over death and sin...
(my expression for the last half of the movie 😅)
