Manga-Mania May: Seaside Stories.
Nosebleed Studio is a Swedish manga studio. They have plenty of online stuff you can see RIGHT HERE but they also sell books collecting short stories written by the people of Nosebleed Stories, like the subject of today’s review; Seaside Stories.
The four tales of “Seaside Stories” only have in common that they are somehow water related. “Ocean Stars” is about Tim Robbins, a young pirate who gets abandoned by his captain after he accidentally shots a hole in the ship with a cannon and ends up as the only crew member of a lady captain’s ship. He end up being the sole member of Omega Blackbell after he accidentally spied on her while she was bathing.
There is also a story called “Hooked On You” about a mermaid Mina who is kinda chubby and barely looks anything like her badass sister since Mina has decided NOT to eat human flesh like other mermaids. She is curious about the world above the sea and would love to meet a human. A wish she gets granted when she saves the conman Kai.
And there’s also a ghost story involving a stuffed animal in a pool and one about a vampire girl and her human boyfriend. they are kinda basic.
“Seaside Stories” is a nice collection of one-shots so we can get an idea what the style of writers of Nosebleed Studio are like. Not sure if you can find it somewhere online, but I suggest you at least check out Nosebleed’s website out and see what sort of stuff you can either read for free or buy. Go see what the Swedes can do with mangas.
That’s one down, 19 to go.
I’m Waezi2, and thanks for wasting time with me.
