"An audience with Emperor Ling Yao," Mei said, squirming slightly under the regal robes she was required to wear as a royal member of the palace. After all, she'd come from the lowest-ranked clan in Xing, and it has only been a year since her brother's coronation, and his invitation for her to live at the palace. She wasn't use to such an extravagant lifestyle.

The guards nodded and bowed respectfully, then opened the two huge doors into the throne room. She shuffled in with all of the royal haughtiness she could muster, her chin up and shoulders straightened. But with her petite stature and heavy clothes, she only cut a comical figure as she waddled into Ling's room.

"These damn clothes..." she muttered.
