I wish I could explain to people that it is really easy to get me emotional about a movie, book, TV show, whatever. It doesn't take that much to get me choked up. So, when your episode about the impending doom of a romantic relationship doesn't tug at my heartstrings even a little bit, that means that you have completely failed.
Not only have you not taken me on an emotional journey, you haven't even taken me on an emotional trip to the grocery store. You have been so negligent in building up these two characters as individuals—much less as a couple—that I feel totally detached while you waste an hour of my life showing how they are destined to be apart.
Also, can we just stop with destiny in Star Trek? it's stupid and doesn't make sense. Even Star Wars emphasizes that prophecies are not roadmaps, and Star Wars traditionally has way more supernatural and religious overtones than Star Trek.
