i need to rant for a bit. yesterday i finally decided to go to a psychiatrist to get an eval which went as well as i could expect

basically a lot of anxiety issues and panic disorders which yeah that tracks. My doctor then prescribed some medication bc you know, psychiatrist, but what's pissing me off is that everyone in my life is so pro mental health and meds are good for you!! until i actually started taking meds than they were all like hmm :// i hear you can get addicted to those things, and like saying its better to do things naturally like WHAT 😀😀

Excuse me while I simp for the amazing movie Legally Blonde and the equally amazing Elle Woods. This isn't the content you follow me for, so my gushing is under the cut. Spoilers are rampant, but it's an old movie so

The PLOT you think it's a dumb comedy but it's NOT and it's mesaage is SO GOOD

Warner is a pretty bitch and gets what he deserves

Vivian is a petty bitch who "isn't completely unfortunate looking" the costume party you HAG! but wait there's character development.

From 'I love him' to 'get thee behind me Satan'

You're not smart enough sweetie. Be serious. Do something more valuable with your time. Then the realization and the plot turns from get him back to prove I'm good enough on my own. It's beautiful.

This filmmaking my beloved. Just. Vivian and some of the other girls are acting out because of how they've been taught they should be in competition with other women isn't explicitly stated. But it's shown in so many little ways. Warner casually dismissing the lesbian woman he's talking to before Elle even talks to him because she's pretty. The way when Callahan decides he can get what he wanted more easily from Elle than Vivian he relegates her to getting him coffee and food.

Warner at one point when Elle refuses something because she promised the client says "who cares? Think about yourself." And I think, from her expression, that's the moment Vivian realizes Warner will NEVER honor her. He will cheat on her, she knows that now, and she doesn't see a way out.

That soft, quiet conversation between Elle and Vivian in the dorm room, where Vivian reaches out- and instead of shooting her down, Elle takes the proverbial hand. It's such a turning point, and Vivian is also very different in the scene. Instead of dark serious colors, she's wearing a light blue shirt. I feel that's a little symbolic of her character arc; the mean caterpillar is becoming a kind, but competent butterfly.

The elevator scene hurts my heart.

Oh, you hurt Elle?? You make her rethink one of the first things she's been passionate about as an adult?? Jail for Warner and Callahan! Jail for Warner and Callahan for 1,000 years!

"If you're going to let one prick change your life, you're not the girl I thought you were." We all need someone like that in our lives I think. Somebody who reminds us of the food parts of us and the good ways we're growing.

This movie uses humor perfectly. The scene with David and the girls? Yeah, it's funny. But it also shows us, without stating directly, that Elle will go out of her way to make someone's day a little less terrible than her own just out of the goodness of her heart.

"Oh no. I've made a terrible mistake." Oh Vivian. Vivian my beloved, you owned up to it and that takes a lot of bravery.

I cannot stress this enough, there are serious movies that can take lessons from Legally Blonde about characterization, using even humorous interactions to make a point without outright stating it like a kid's book report.

Emmett deserves all the hugs.

Vivian and Elle are friends now, so wholesome.
