Not sure how to explain this but of all the characterizations I was expecting Jaden Yuki to have “an insistent to the point of nigh-deluded optimism that interprets everything, including blatant to-his-face insult, in the most positive light possible, beyond just taking things in reasonable good faith but to the degree of genuine mental gymnastics that imply either an inability or a willful refusal to acknowledge reality” was not on the list. I love him
