DOMi & JD BECK - NOT TiGHT (2022)

Refreshing, exciting, and funky.

This is the first album I will review in this blog, and it is a great way to kick things off. DOMi & JD BECK bring a big breath of fresh air to the jazz fusion genre, and are supported by an all star cast featuring Anderson .Paak, Thundercat, Snoop Dogg, Mac DeMarco, and others.

Hailing from France and Texas respectively, DOMi & JD BECK are extremely talented child prodigies who have teamed up to create an album that melds contemporary jazz with elements of hip hop and pop. Their ever-changing beats and syncopated rhythms are delivered impeccably by JD BECK on the drums, and this blends perfectly with the melodies DOMi performs on the keys with a flair that would make Thelonious Monk envious.

For a debut album, NOT TiGHT shows an immense amount of musicality and promise. This duo are definitely ones to watch and I will certainly be eagerly awaiting what they do next. If you are even remotely interested in jazz you should certainly give this album a listen. You won't regret it.
