I think I had the best experience of everyone ever with Twitter.

I got on for the first time ever to help the #savetf2 movement, up voted all of like 5 posts, got asked for a phone number, and said, naw f- Twitter, nothin worth this.

Hey crocheters, specifically newer pattern makers, but this goes for everyone. When creating a pattern, especially for the written portion, it is in your best interest to look up the terminology and shorthand used in most patterns. I understand that terminology is different in places (see UK vs US). However if you have to start your pattern off when an abbreviation list that looks absolutely like you just grabbed the alphabet and threw it at the screen, you will hear my screaming and cursing your name no matter where you live.

okay twitter is fighting over the use of filipinx again so imma just pop in here real quick to say that, as a filipino born and raised and currently in the philippines, the term "filipino" is inherently gender-neutral and that me and many many many Filipinos would greatly appreciate it if people would recognize that because there is literally no need for the word "filipinx" or "pinxy" to exist to refer to Filipinos without any gendered connotations. though spanish and filipino linguistics can be similar at some points, ph languages are not as heavily gendered compared to spanish - heck, most of our nouns are gender neutral AND we don't have specific words for "him" or "her" or "his" or "hers" because all of our fucking pronouns are literally gender neutral ("Siya" and "Sa Kanya" literally correspond to he/she/they and his/hers/theirs).

and even if Filipino was indeed a gendered term (which it isn't), then we would greatly appreciate it if you guys would let tHE FILIPINOS AS A WHOLE decide THEIR gender neutral term instead of letting westerners speak over filipinos by deciding to slap an X (a letter we don't even have in our language btw) on the term and calling it a day. if some fil-ams prefer to use filipinx, then i hope those fil-ams dearly know that americans, and henceforth the rest of the world, will use that term to refer to us Filipinos that don't want to be associated with it because our voices will be drowned out due to the continued usage of the term because welp the world will always fucking listen to the americans.

SO PLEASE IF YOU'RE A FIL-AM THAT WANTS SO BADLY TO USE FILIPINX THEN BY ALL MEANS DO WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT BUT MAKE FUCKING SURE THAT YOU DON'T ENFORCE THAT TERM ON OTHERS AND ESPECIALLY IN REFERRING TO THE FILIPINOS AS A WHOLE. AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T DROWN OUT THE VOICES OF THE FILIPINOS THAT LIVE IN THE FUCKING PHILIPPINES CAUSE FRANKLY WE ARE VERY TIRED OF DEFENDING OUR OWN NATIVE LANGUAGE THAT IS CONTINUOUSLY BEING DROWNED OUT AND ERASED AND WESTERNIZED DUE TO CENTURIES OF COLONIZATION THAT, FRANKLY, STILL CONTINUE TO THIS DAY THANKS TO LINGUISTIC CHANGES SUCH AS THESE.
