Oh man, I love them so much. There are few things in nature I love more. I love sitting inside with all the windows opening, listening to the rain and thunder. I love going out in them when it’s hot out and just getting absolutely soaked. The smell is great and what a mood! Summer in general is too hot to be my favorite season, but it’s always a contender simply because of the storms.
Lamp Halo is always the first fic I think of for you. An it's always on my reread list.
Lamp Halo was so much fun to write and I really love my lil lads in it!
Secret: (just Lamp Halo, I do have some more for Novo and Pols though)
Lamp Halo is inspired by Gunslinger Girls - which isn’t a secret - but a tidpit of information; my favorite character from the show/manga is the big sister Gunslinger who collects teddy bears.
Her name?
Triella, which is, of course, the name of Michael’s demon in other stories!
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but did we ever find out why Gavin was so scared of the lake at the end of Lamp Halo? I was rereading it again for like the 7th time (I love it so much) and got super curious.
It’s actually been revealed before the scene happened if that makes sense, haha!
Lamp Halo is part of a multiverse and can be read as a stand alone but has another, bigger story hidden inside. Why Gavin is so terrified of the lake (and to some degree, snow) is revealed in the Royalty-verse!
20. “I could just use a hug” with anybody and Gavin, lamp halo if you don't mind!
This isn’t exactly the sentence but I hope you still like it OTL
Geoff startled awake and for a moment he didn’t know where he was. It was dark and quiet, just a lonely standby light to his right.
It took a while until he realized he was laying on the couch at the base, he must have fallen asleep while watching Michael and Ray play video games and by the look of it he had slept way into the night.
Groaning quietly, he searched for his phone and squinted when the display lit up.
Fuck, it was after 2am and he should probably just stay here tonight. But before he could go back to sleep, he turned the light to the weight settling against him.
Sure enough it was Ray, who had somehow squeezed in between him and the cushion. The boy was asleep and for a moment Geoff was sure he was sucking on his thumb but when he leaned closed, Ray was just pressing his little fist against his mouth.
Now the boy’s face scrunched up and Geoff quickly lowered his phone.
It was already too late, Ray’s eyes opened lazily and he gave a little whine.
“Hey there, bud,” Geoff greeted him and helped him sit up. “Come on, let’s get you to bed.”
Ray wasn’t even fighting it, just laced his arms around Geoff’s shoulder and let him carry him.
Absentmindedly Geoff pressed a kiss against his temple as he carefully searched his way in the darkness. He could see a little more when he stepped into the hallway if only because a lonely light was still coming from the office.
“Gav’s still awake,” Ray yawned and Geoff gave a hum.
“Let’s get him to bed as well.”
“Okay.”
Geoff knocked before opening the door and sure enough, Gavin was hunched over the keyboard typing slowly.
“What are you still doing up so late, bud?”
“Getting the blueprints for the heist,” he mumbled and damn, the kid could barely keep his eyes open.
Moving ahead, Geoff crouched down next to him. “You know you still have time for that. You don’t need to do this tonight.”
“Ryan said we will go and eat ice cream if I do a good job,” Gavin explained but it took one look to know that the boy was so tired that he was close to tears already.
“That doesn’t mean you have to get it done today.”
“But then I can eat ice cream tomorrow,” he whined but before Geoff could say anything, Ray let go of him to reach out for Gavin.
They watched each other for a moment in silence and Geoff could tell that Gavin’s eyes were flitting from Ray to the screen and back.
“Hey Gav,” he said. “I think Ray could really use a hug right now.”
That was all it needed and in the next moment Gavin slipped from the chair to wrap his arms around Ray. They embraced each other tightly and Geoff also pulled the boy closer. He could feel him shake against him, like he was trying hard not to cry.
“Let’s get you both to bed,” he said and Gavin lifted his head, eyes pleading.
“It’ll be fine,” Geoff assured him. “You just misunderstood Ryan a little, bud. He won’t be mad if you don’t finish all that work tonight.”
“You sure?”
“Absolutely.”
Slowly, the boy nodded and soon enough his hand slipped into Geoff’s. He guided him to his room and wasn’t all too surprised when Ray whispered in his ear, “Wanna sleep here.”
“Sure thing, bud.”
Gavin climbed into his bed and Ray was quick to follow and curl against him. They fitted easily together and Geoff smiled as he tucked them in.
4. “How long has it been since you’ve slept?” with Ryan and Gavin please?
I hope Lamp Halo is okay for you?
“How long has it been since you’ve slept?”
Ryan looked up. To be honest he had just stirred at his car as if he had wondered what to do with it. Considering that it was freaking freezing, he could barely feel his fingers anymore from standing here for so long.
Shit, he was maybe more tired than he had anticipated.
Rubbing his face, he looked around now until he found Gavin standing in the door to the case. The boy was keeping the door open with one of his feet, probably because he still had a problem with reaching the keypad to let himself in again.
“What?” Ryan finally asked and something between amusement and worry crossed over Gavin’s face.
“I asked how long it’s been since you’ve got a goodnight’s sleep,” Gavin repeated and Ryan turned back to his car.
“I don’t know,” he admitted slowly. When he turned back around from staring at his own reflection in the mirror, he found Gavin next to him.
“I can’t let you drive like this.”“What?”
“I can-”
“I understood you,” he interrupted the boy and now he felt slightly pissed. “You can’t tell me what to do.”
Gavin just watched him unimpressed and with a huff, Ryan turned around to finally open the car only to find that his keys were gone. Wait, had he really stood here with no keys all this time? No way, he was pretty sure he had taken them with him, they were always in his pocket but even when he checked again, he couldn’t find them.
A bit dumbfounded, he simply stood there and had nearly forgotten that Gavin was still there when the boy tucked at his sleeve.
“You can sleep on the couch?” he offered and Ryan was quick to shake his head.
“No way.”“In my bed then? Ryan, pretty please?”
And even though it was a question, the next thing Ryan knew was that he was pulled back into the base. He followed slowly and yeah, maybe he should sleep, maybe that was a great idea. Only that he hadn’t been able before, no matter how hard he tried.
“You took my keys, didn’t you,” he asked as they walked up the stairs.
“I couldn’t let you drive like this,” Gavin just said and Ryan couldn’t help but wonder when the boy had taken them. Even before he had stepped outside or while they were standing there? Had he taken them right out of his hands without him noticing?
He didn’t know and didn’t ask further when Gavin opened the door to his room. With easy steps he was navigated past a pile of toys on the floor and sat on the bed. This wonderful soft bed with a blue cover. He let his hand travel over it while kicking his shoes off.
“Bed is too small,” he protested but Gavin pushed him down and okay, if he curled a little it would work somehow. Right now he actually didn’t really mind because Gavin was already moving, was tucking him in and even in his sleep deprived state Ryan couldn't help but chuckle.
The boy answered with a bright smile before reaching for the lamp on the bedside table and switched it on.
“Okay?” Gavin asked and Ryan nodded. Burying his face in the pillow, he smiled because it smelled like Gavin’s shampoo. He liked it and let out a soft sigh.
